Nursing
The radiation therapy department has specialized nurses who are available to patients throughout treatment. They are able to advise patients on managing side effects as well as calling in prescriptions for the patients under treatment.
Nutritional/Psychosocial
The radiation therapy department has specially trained nutritional specialists as well as psychosocial counselors who are available to assist the patients. All patients will be met by these specialists and followed as needed at regular intervals.
Lab/X-ray
Blood tests, laboratory investigations and imaging studies are done routinely during the course of radiation treatment. Patients will obtain their blood tests by Cancer Services or at a laboratory of the patient's choice. CT scans and ultrasounds may also be needed and can be obtained at the Radiology department at Glendale Memorial Hospital.
Transportation
Due to the increasing number of patients, transportation by the Cancer Services van is limited to patients within the vicinity of the Cancer Center who have no other means, public or private, of getting their daily radiation therapy treatments. There is a nominal fee for this service.
Financial Counseling
Financial counseling as well as an explanation on Medicare, managed care and other insurance coverages will be provided by the financial counselor at Glendale Memorial Hospital.
